Sept. 8, 2010 Meet - at Cedar v Cedar and Belding

The meet on Wednesday Sept. 8, 2010 is at Cedar Springs. We run at Cedar View Elementary School, 204 E. Muskegon St, Cedar Springs..

The course at Cedar Springs is historically very fast and offers a fair number of viewing opportunities. It has one tiny bump (about half the size of the “hill” in front of West Catholic High School along Bristol). Other that that it is very flat with few sharp turns. Here is the Cedar Springs Course Map.

What should we be looking to do? Every athlete should have a new goal time given to them on Tuesday that can also be found in our split post in a few minutes.

For the girls, their team stats from last Thursday are:
Total Time: 1:56:56 Average: 23:23.17 1-5 Split: 3:01

Goal is to reduce the total time by four minutes (remember we were missing a key athlete) and reduce the 1-5 split to 2:00.

For the boys, their team stats from last Thursday are:
Total Time: 1:52:24 Average: 22:28.83 1-5 Split: 5:42

Goal is to reduce the total time by about two minutes if possible, and to drop the 1-5 split by having our fifth boy move up closer to number four — assuming that all athletes are able to make it. Three of the boys play tennis as a primary sport. We still need about five more boys (any grade) if you know of someone you can convince to join us.

We run against Belding and Cedar Springs. Cedar Springs Girls will finish top three in Division 2 at the state meet so it should be an exciting race to watch. Hopefully the girls can get a dual meet win vs Belding and put a dent in Cedar.

The bus will leave WC at 2:45 on Wednesday as we will be sharing the ride with Tennis heading to Comstock Park. We run at 4:45 girls and 5:15 boys. The bus should be heading back to WC not later than 6:30. It is important for kids to plan ahead on homework on Wednesday night so that they aren’t too overloaded given that the afternoon will be pretty full into the early evening.

Corrected 9/4/2010 - the original posted results here were somehow way off - we have gone back to the original and backup placement order (which match exactly) and the original and backup times (which match exactly) and the results didn’t match at all — the top half of the race was pretty on but the bottom half was way off for no reason I can even explain. I believe that these are now completely accurate, but if you spot a discrepancy, please advise.
