Former WC Girls Cross Country Coach Jim Schaffer passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation is tomorrow (Sunday) with the funeral on Monday. Here is the obituary. After leaving WC he became the athletic director in Kent City where he continued to be helpful to many area programs including ours.

GVSU held it’s first indoor meet ever in the new track facility (full results). Monica Kinney finished right behind Katherine McCarthy, both running essentially 5 minutes flat. Very nice one two punch for the Lakers and Monica’s first race in a Laker Uniform.
